My favorite wood for paying homage to the stunning pottery of native southwestern cultures is Rocky Mountain aspen. This pot is turned in a traditional shape, inlaid with copper and biotite at the rim and with synthetic turquoise stone at the midline. The rim has been lightly burned and the interior is dyed cinnamon. Arizona and New Mexico will do this kind of thing to you, if you get out and walk a while.

Size: 7 5/8" wide x 5.25" tall.

Finished with satin lacquer.

About my work:

I create lathe-turned fine art and craft, and my native style tends toward organic, serene art forms that celebrate nature, primitive cultures, and wood personality as part of the composition. My work incorporates texture, color, fire, bone, stone inlay, mixed woods, and metal inlay.
