I turned a weathered block of American elm, charred it, brushed it back, and repeated this process until I achieved the heavily textured surface shown. I then warmed the interior with amber dye. This piece rests on a rounded bottom. 

 

Finished with multiple coats of hand-rubbed linseed oil.
